        Online Panel discussion on NEP-2020 organised by  ICFAI University, Jharkhand

All Stakeholders ,State Government , Educators, Teachers , Students and Alumni express their views

Today, Virtual Panel Discussion  on New Education Policy-2020 was organised by ICFAI University, Jharkhand . Dr. Gopal Pathak, Vice-Chancellor, Jharkhand University of Technology, Dr. Nitesh Raj, Dy Director, Higher, Technical  Education & Skill Development, Govt. of Jharkhand and Mr. Pradeep Bhattacharyya, Vice-President, Dhanbad District Bar Association were the distinguished panelists . Besides Registrar, faculty members, students and  alumniof the University, academicians and researchers from IIM, Ahmedabad, IBS, Kolkata , ABMR Business school, Bengaluru  also participated and expressed their views.

 The panel discussion was moderated by Prof O R S Rao , Vice-Chancellor of the  ICFAI University.

 Welcoming the guests to the panel discussion , Prof O R S Rao , referring to the recent address by our Honourable Prime Minster said , “The New Education policy will sow the seeds for starting a new era and  give new direction to 21st century India , by providing an India-centric education system. It integrates  Education to the essential  21st century skills - critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, curiosity and communication. It envisages Outcomes based Teaching-Learning thru the New Age Learning Pathway of  Engage, Explore, Experience, Express and Excel”. “ Objective of today’s discussion is to take the views of all the stakeholders, State Govt, Educators, teachers,  students and alumni so as to prepare ourselves to implement the policy from next academic year”, added Prof Rao.

 Highlighting  the salient points of the policy , Dr Nitesh Raj said , “Govt of Jharkhand plans to implement the policy from 2021-22 academic year, after discussion with all the stakeholders ”.

Complimenting the Govt of India on the policy, Dr. Gopal Pathak said, “ NEP-2020 bridged the gaps in the previous policies. Now , it is upto the Academic Leaders and teachers to implement it so as to improve quality of education”. Mr. Pradeep Bhattacharyya highlighted the importance of the Teacher and the need to retain autonomy of the Teachers. Besides a lot of advantages, participants also expressed likely challenges in implementation of the policy so that students get the expected benefits out of it.

 A debate competition on NEP-2020 policy was conducted .Mr Swarnendu Sekhar Das(B.Tech-III), Ms Manshi Kumari(LLB)  and Ms Medha Verma(MBA-III) were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.

 Ms Tannu Priya ( MBA-II) anchored the event . Prof  Arvind Kumar, Registrar proposed vote of thanks.

Campus Placements Season Starts at ICFAI University Jharkhand

Campus Placement Season started at ICFAI University,Jharkhand , wherein Prof O R S Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the University addressed all the final year students through Video Conference .

Explaining the challenges in the current job market for fresh graduates, Prof O R S Rao said , “ Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, all the sectors of the economy are going through stress and disruption . All  organisations are going through  digital transformation. So ,all of you have to acquire digital skills not only to get good campus placement but also to succeed as a professional. All students must know how to use Social Media , like Linked In , for  professional networking and self-development”.   “In  order to enable  you to build a successful career, a number of relevant self-learning modules are uploaded onto our Swaadhyay  Digital Learning System. They include Digital Skills , Aptitude Tests, Participating in Group Discussions, Attending  Personal Interviews etc“, added Prof Rao.

Addressing the students, Prof Arvind Kumar, Registrar said , “ In view of the current unprecedented situation , our University is working on a number of innovative initiatives to ensure your  career success , but you have to own your career and co-operate with the University”

All the students expressed happiness with the new initiatives of the University. Prof Sumit Sinha, Faculty-in-charge Campus Placements and other faculty members also participated in the interaction with the students.

Engineers’ Day was celebrated at ICFAI University, Jharkhand through Video Conferencing.  Mr. Arun Kumar Agrawal, Director (Technical),  MECON  and Mr. G. K. Rathore, General Manager, Central Coalfields Limited, Mr. Sarojkant Singh, Deputy General Manager,                                             McNally Bharat Engineering Company and Mr. Prem Prakash Dayal, Project                                            Manager, TCS, Kolkata were the Guests of Honour for the function.  

Welcoming the guests to the function, Prof O R S Rao , Vice-Chancellor of the  ICFAI University. Jharkhand said, “We should pay homage not only to  Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya but also to other  great Engineers like Abdul Kalam, Satish Dhawan, K L Rao, Kurien Verghese etc, who made India proud.”. Referring to the clarion call given  by Honourable Prime Minister for Atma Nirbhar Bharat during  last Independence Day, Prof Rao said, “ In order to Make in India and Make for the World, India should build the requisite Competence (in terms of skills) and Competitiveness (In terms of both Cost and Time). Engineers should help in building the five pillars of Atma Nirbhar Bharat, namely Infrastructure, Technology, Demographic Dividend, Demand generation and Economy Boost”.

Highlighting the need to step up R &D, Mr. Arun Kumar Agrawal explained how MECON is studying the Steel Imports and working out a strategy to become self-sufficient. He exhorted the students to unleash innovation to address the challenges being faced in the current uncertain world.

Mr Rathore advised the Engineers to design products and services in such a way that they are available at affordable prices, without sacrificing quality, so as to boost demand for the same.

Students of the University show-cased the posters designed by them to explain the 5 Pillars of Atma Nirbhar Bharat along with their suggestions to strengthen each pillar . Awards of recognition were to the top 3 entries to Harshita (MBA-III), Fatima(BBA-LLB-V) and Ananya 9 BBA-V), respectively.

An online quiz program was conducted and the top 3 awards went to Shovona, Mayank and Rohit Respectively

Arti(BCA-V) anchored the event . Prof Arvind Kumar, Registrar proposed vote of thanks.

Students of ICFAI University, Jharkhand honour their teachers on e-Teachers’ Day function

 

Students of ICFAI University, Jharkhand honoured their teachers during the Virtual Teachers’ Day function held today. Before staring the program, homage was paid to Dr Sarvepalli  Radhakrishnan  on whose birthday the function is held, Besides, rich tributes were paid to Late Pranab Mukherjee, Former President of India , who started his career as a college teacher and took pride in  his teaching career.  A variety of cultural programs like Singing, Dancing, Reciting Poems, Letter Plays etc were conducted by the students and alumni of the University , praising the contribution of Teachers to their  personal and professional development .

Addressing the students and employees of the University, Prof O R S Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the University said, “While Parents give Life to the children, it is the Teachers that give them a Meaningful Life, by imparting Knowledge and cultivating Character . All of us must be grateful to our respective teachers for “what we are today”. “Teachers should instill curiosity and critical thinking among the students. Besides, all Teachers must have passion for teaching and must teach from their hearts, rather than their minds”, added Prof Rao.

Awards of recognition were presented to the Teachers for their exemplary performance in Key Performance areas. Award for the best performance in Research Publications went to Dr Goutam Tanty . Prof Sumit Sinha and Mr Amar Gupta were given awards of recognition for their contribution to Social Outreach and Digital Support, respectively. The award for the Institution Building for 2019-20 was given to Dr Sudipta Majumdar for his contribution in building Digital Academic Delivery and Brand Building.   

Prof Arvind Kumar, Registrar and Senior Faculty members, Dr Bhagbat Barik, Dr Rumna Bhattacharyya and Prof Mithilesh Mishra also addressed the audience. Ms Tannu Priya, MBA student of 2019 batch anchored the event.
