Panel Discussion on New Education
Policy-2020 was organised by ICFAI University, Jharkhand . Dr. Gopal Pathak,
Vice-Chancellor, Jharkhand University of Technology, Dr. Nitesh Raj, Dy
Director, Higher, Technical Education
& Skill Development, Govt. of Jharkhand and Mr. Pradeep Bhattacharyya,
Vice-President, Dhanbad District Bar Association were the distinguished
panelists . Besides Registrar, faculty members, students and alumniof the University, academicians and
researchers from IIM, Ahmedabad, IBS, Kolkata , ABMR Business school,
Bengaluru also participated and expressed their views.
The panel
discussion was moderated by Prof O R S Rao , Vice-Chancellor of the ICFAI University.
Welcoming the
guests to the panel discussion , Prof O R S Rao , referring to the recent
address by our Honourable Prime Minster said , “The New Education policy will
sow the seeds for starting a new era and give new direction to 21st century India , by
providing an India-centric education system. It integrates Education to the essential 21st century skills - critical thinking,
creativity, collaboration, curiosity and communication. It envisages Outcomes
based Teaching-Learning thru the New Age Learning Pathway of Engage, Explore, Experience, Express and Excel”.
“ Objective of today’s discussion is to take the views of all the stakeholders,
State Govt, Educators, teachers,
students and alumni so as to prepare ourselves to implement the policy
from next academic year”, added Prof Rao.
Highlighting the salient points of the policy , Dr Nitesh
Raj said , “Govt of Jharkhand plans to implement the policy from 2021-22
academic year, after discussion with all the stakeholders ”.
Complimenting
the Govt of India on the policy, Dr. Gopal Pathak said, “ NEP-2020 bridged the
gaps in the previous policies. Now , it is upto the Academic Leaders and
teachers to implement it so as to improve quality of education”. Mr. Pradeep
Bhattacharyya highlighted the importance of the Teacher and the need to retain
autonomy of the Teachers. Besides a lot of advantages, participants also
expressed likely challenges in implementation of the policy so that students
get the expected benefits out of it.
A debate
competition on NEP-2020 policy was conducted .Mr Swarnendu Sekhar Das(B.Tech-III),
Ms Manshi Kumari(LLB) and Ms Medha
Verma(MBA-III) were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd
prizes respectively.
